  1. I actully really like the film, The Island. Or at least what we have seen so far. The begining was very confusing. We had no idea where they were, or why they were there. I had no idea they were actual clones till earlier today. I find the whole cloning thing kindof intresting. Its actully a sort of good idea. So every one would have like, spare organs or limbs. Though if the clones are actual consious, living things, then it is inhuman. But it is still an intresting movie.

  2. At the beginning of the film, The Island, i was actually very confused as to why these people were all dress alike, and as to why they could not interact with the other sex, and why they did the same thing everyday of there life. I had so many questions at the beginning of the film, but the farther into the movie we get, the more questions of mine that are answered. I can connect "The Island" to the songs and articles we listened to and read. I can make this connection becuase in the film, everyone is dressed alike, everyone does the same things, everyone has to listen to what they were told and they weren't allowed to change. Where as in the articles and songs, they talk about people wanting to be themselves, that they were done following others, they wanted their own messages, they were done with the lies, they were done hidding there trueselves, and so on and so on. Just like how Lincoln 6 Echo was sick of following in everyone's footsteps and he wanted to break free, and that is what he did and he discovered soemhting no one has before, and he took Jordan 2 Delta with him. I hope this film keeps getting better and better, this film is quite interreging and is hard to stop watching when the bell rings.

  3. I really liked the movie, The Island, so far at least. Its not really your typical movie where the bad guy sets up the good guy and makes him look like the bad guy. I can relate this movie to the book "The Giver". In this book everyone is told what to do, at what time and are monitored very closely. In "The Giver" the people live in what they think is an absolutely perfect world, but little did they know that the people they governed them were killing them whenever they were "released" (the equivalent of being brought to the island in the movie). I'm very confused though how the United States government is involved with this though. Albert Laurent and Dr. Merrick talked to each other about how the defense department has Dr. Merrick's back. I'm wondering why this utopian society is allowed to continue on, and why the defense department is backing it.

  4. The movie "The Island" is an interesting way to look at what could be going on in the world without us knowing. In the start of the movie, I was confused as to why everyone did the same thing day after day. It is a boring life to live. However, as the movie continued, it starts to make sense. The clones are told how to have a good diet and have a controlled environment. This was because since they are killed for their body, the buyers want the best of the best. The most effective way to do this is by controlling what the clones intake. It makes their bodies in perfect shape for when they are killed. The clones are killed without contest because only a few people know of what is happening in the military bunker. One of the things that Mac told Lincoln Six Echo when he was asking about why no one was helping them survive was that people want to eat the burger but not meet the cow. People do not care where they are getting what they want, as long as they do not know and it satisfies them. My main idea on the issue is that when clones of actual people are made, why are the rights of the humans not included in the copy process? Clones are humans, just developed in a shorter time. They still have the ability to think, learn, and feel the same as any other human being. (example: Lincoln Six Echo - grown man, three years old)

  5. I really like this movie, the Island. I found it a little confusing at the beginning but i caught on to it. I didn't like at all how they lied to all of them making them think there was a contamination when there wasn't and i really don't like how they killed the people that were suppost to go to "The Island". I really liked the character of Lincoln Six Echo because he was finally catching on to things. He started to be more curious about things he finally figured out that there was no island. I understand that these people were just clones but i did not like how they kept them cooped up in that building. I thought that it was very unfair for them to do that. They should have been able to be free just like any other human being. The clones have no power, no way to control their lives because their lives have already been handed to them. They can't really find who they truly are, only what they were trained to be like in the cloning process. Overall I am liking this movie very much

  7. At first while wathing The Island I thought it was confusing and thought it was a weird science fiction movie. Then when I started to see the plot come into play I started to enjoy watching it. My questions were how can this be real? And if it was real or that people really do science experiments to people for like fun. My reaction was kind of shocked how people would want to control people, although they are clones they are real and they should have known sooner or later that someone would question the little bubble they live in. When Lincoln 6 Echo started to question the environment he lived in, Dr. merrick came in to try to convince him that he should stay and want to pursue to go to the Island, which in all reality isn't such a good thing. When Jordan 2 Delta and Lincoln 6 Echo escaped they realized that they are clones and that someone else has control over their lives and that the past isn't real that they thought. They want to try and live but that feel limited by what the guy at the bar has told them. Although they want to go searching for their owners and get a life.
I really like this movie and it connects a lot to what we are talkinmg about. Like what we do and how we do thinks without thinking about them.

  8. I like the movie, The Island. The begining was very confusing to me because they didn't give an introduction and they were throwing out words we didn't know the meaning to yet. When found out that they were clones it really got me more interested. I also realized how important just knowing simple things were like knowing what a snake is. The movie also shows how important it is to know about the world you live in because it will affect you in the long run.

  9. i like the movie The island becasue it reminds me of a game called Fallout 3 because in the movie and the game they escape from the "vault" into the "real world" and know nothing about it. What confused me was that if they are other peoples clones and have organs from other people how didnt they know what a snake was. Another thing that confused me was how did Lincoln Six Echo find out about how the island was fake before they found the room that played the holograms.

  10. Although we have not finished the movie, "The Island"so far I am really enjoying it. This is because it is interesting to me to see what would happen in the future when cloning becomes more common and it is a "normal" thing to create a civilization that lives under ground. I can connect this to the book "The Giver" by Lois Lowry. This is because in this book, there is a civilization that does not see color, does not experience hot or cold, and people are unaware that the pills that they are required to take make their bodies so that they do not have hormones or feelings for one another. This movie also relates to the book because Jonas (I might have forgotten the name) and a baby named Gabe escape the boxed in world that they lived in their whole life. Unlike the movie though, the book does not really talk about what happens once they leave their world.
This movie is confusing, but this is probably because I have not seen the whole thing yet.
These are my thoughts about the movie "The Island."

  11. I have seen The Island a few times before and i can say that this is a great example of the darkness in human nature. I can connect this to many examples in history where people were not treated as humans but merely as animals or products. During Adolf Hitler's Reich the Jews were treated like animals and led into concentration camps where no one thought that the Jews were people and had no second thoughts on killing them. Even in our own history during World War two the Japanese were forced into internment camps and their rights as United States citizens were violated.

Every time I watch this movie I always think about how I would react if I found out I had a clone but also what I would do. Often humans have a self-preservation imperative where if you are dying you don't care how you just want to live. This movie is capable of showing the dark sides of humanity but also how innocent we can be. When they just escape from the facility they are like children who have not been corrupted by the outside world and have no malicious intent towards anyone. They show this by their lack of vulgar vocabulary such as "Straight up..." or "Taking a dump..." and their lack of hatred towards anyone because they are not on the aggressive they only try to defend themselves.

  12. I have enjoyed watching the island I must say this is one of the best movies I have seen in school. When we first starting watching this film they didn’t describe why any of these people are here and what happened so at first I had a lot of questions but as we watched the movie all of my questions were answered and I was able to figure out that the island doesn’t exist and it is all a scam.
I think this movie is one of the reasons people fear the advancement of technology. Because then they will always be watched by big brother and will have no freedom for example it is very hard for echo six delta to escape because of all the cameras and his ID number. Then people will have no privacy at all. Also this movie reminds me of how greedy everyone is just for money for example when the two clones do escape the person they know doesn’t want to help them bring this place to justice because he will lose his job. I think this movie represents the dark side of the humanities and shows the greed and evil of the world.

  13. The movie "The Island" was an okay movie, from what I saw of it. In the beginning it was very confusing not knowing what was going on, but they didn’t know that since it was what their lives really were like to them, not knowing any better. My favorite character is Lincoln Six Echo because he is all into knowing what’s really going on behind closed doors. I feel I would be the same way; just having no control over nothing not even myself would drive me crazy. It opens my eyes to bizarre things that could be happening all around the world that we have absolutely no idea about. Seeing this and how they think that the "disaster" or whatever had happened to them and that they were the only survivors I feel is so strange. Its just mind boggling thinking that that could happen to you, or even be happening to you just not at the same degree as it was for them. Just seeing the lives they lived and most of them believed it ,is just so weird to think about since they were living like that while others were living their ”normal” lives. And saying that brings connections to my mind, like what if that is how it is other places and we have no clue what’s going on because we all believe what we are told.
